Arlene has over 3 decades logged behind the stove and is ready to assist you in creating a delicious meal and increase your lifelong cooking skills.

Here's How it Works

  • Contact Arlene for the latest menu selections.

  • If you have a menu choice that is not listed on the menu, we can work on recipes that you would like to learn. Specialties include Plant-based, Cajun, Thai, Italian, French, Australian and Moroccan. Any dish can be converted to Vegan.

  • No experience is required for my classes, just a yearn to learn something new in the kitchen!

  • Arlene will guide you and your guests through the process of planning to serving the dishes with technique demonstrations and tips along the way.

  • Your home kitchen is the ideal space to learn and stretch your culinary skills. You will be able to practice with your equipment and ingredients at your leisure after the class.

  • Choose from one-on-one instruction, or group classes that include friends and family.

Pricing is based on the amount of people and is a flat fee. For menus and pricing, contact Arlene at 218-269-7979 or at coco.arlene@gmail.com. Pricing is comparable to a nice dinner out or a cooking class at a popular cooking school.

1-2 People

  • 2-hour class

  • You will learn a complete menu from Appetizers to Desserts. Four courses will be prepared.

  • We can also prepare some do ahead meals for the week which is perfect for the busy family.

3-5 People

  • 2 1/2 hour class

  • You will learn a complete menu from Appetizers to Desserts. We will prepare five courses.

  • We can focus on technique, special skills like butchering or tailor the class to fit your needs.

5-12 People

  • 2 1/2 to 3 hour class

  • You will learn a complete menu from Appetizers to Desserts. Five courses will be prepared.

  • Beverage pairing suggestions are also included. We can also recommend mocktail or non-alcoholic pairings.

  • All private classes include a menu consultation via email or phone. Recipes, a detailed shopping list, a complete meal and instruction. Students are responsible for shopping.

  • We can tailor any menu to fit your needs.

  • Chef Coco is available for shopping for a nominal fee, if preferred.

12 People or More

  • We LOVE large groups and welcome them. We will customize your class to fit your needs and can provide an iron chef style competition format if wanted.

How the Class Works

I will arrive 1 hour ahead of the time that guests arrive. I will set up the kitchen with a station for each recipe. All the ingredients will be arranged according to the recipes and your friends will arrive ready to have fun. There will be a short overview of the menu and I will point out important skills, tips and techniques along the way.

Many students take a series of classes to improve their cooking techniques, which makes entertaining a breeze in the kitchen. As us about team building classes, we can find a location and supply all the ingredients and the equipment.

About Chef Coco

My private cooking classes are offered in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Duluth, Minnesota. Teaching cooking classes is my passion and I have been featured on television in Duluth, offering recipes that are inspired by nature's bounty. I am the author of Cajun Cooking, Making it Easy (Wordware press 1997). A certified culinary professional who has worked in the culinary world as a chef and caterer for over three decades. My vast experience has taken me to over 19 countries, where I have traveled and studied the food ways of numerous cuisines. I have mosaic career in the food world and I never stop learning new techniques to teach my students.

 

I have been a restaurant owner/chef, micro food manufacturer and currently, a full-time culinary instructor. I have also been the past president of the Minnesota chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier, past board member of the Arrowhead Professional Chefs Association, a member of the Minnesota State Department of Health Advisory Committee and a member of Women Who Really Cook.

How it Works

You choose a recipe, or we can suggest one and we will send you an email with all the necessary measurements, ingredients and equipment. Then we will schedule a time for you to learn your dish and create something delicious! The class usually runs 1-2 hours depending on the dish. Here are some suggestions if you want to learn something besides your cherished recipes. Fast, delicious and easy, these recipes will surely become a family favorite.

Intro to Plant Forward Cooking - Looking to eat healthier and less meat? This class covers the basics and preparation of core dishes. Health is the true meaning of wealth. It's simple....start your next meal with food from the earth and found in nature. One meal at a time, the magic starts to happen.

 

Grilling Secrets - Learn the secrets to tender, grilled meats and vegetables. Seasonal recipes featured.

 

Quick Bread Baking - Scones, muffins and quick breads.

 

New Mother Sauces - There is a whole new crop of sauces that are quick, easy and tasty. Think Pesto, Chimichurri, and other global flavors.

 

Gumbo - From seafood to vegan to chicken and sausage, learn the secrets to this state soup from Louisiana that cooks with Jazz!

 

Mediterranean Meze - Hummus with Tuscan Salsa, Roasted Misto Olives, Bruschetta and Mini herbed stuffed potatoes on the half shell.

 

One Pot Pasta Meals - This technique can open your world to new skills of cooking pasta that can be made into dishes with international flavors.

 

Pizzettas - Known in Italy as "mini pizzas", this class explores new, quick dough options and you will learn toppings and sauces for an easy meal on the go that's better than delivery.

 

Cajun Basics - Jambalaya, Etoufee and Bread Pudding are Louisiana classics that are always in style and can be adapted to many ingredients.

 

Any class can be converted to plant-based recipes!

Class includes instruction, recipes and shopping list. You will provide ingredients and tools. The above classes are priced as follows:

I will join you in your kitchen via video platform for a live session (Zoom or Skype), to teach you how to make delicious dishes. We can adapt recipes to the crock pot, instant pot or air fryer when possible. $50.00 per hour.
