Food that loves you back are the foods to love. Eating whole plant food is the best thing we can do to save ourselves and our planet." - Food Revolution Network Summit

What does it all mean?

Plant Forward/Flexitarian

Often used synonymously with "vegetable-centric", "vegetable-forward", "plant-centric" and "Flextarian".

Plant Forward - "A style of cooking and eating that emphasized and celebrates, but is not limited to, plant based foods - including fruits and vegetables (produce) whole grains, beans, other legumes (pulses) and soy foods - nuts and seeds; plant oils, and herbs and spices - and reflects evidence-based principles of health and sustainability". If you want to transition to a plant-based diet, this is a good place to start.

Flexitarian - Defined as a person that primarily eats a vegetarian diet but includes a modest amount of meat and fish. If you want to learn more and move to the next level, whatever that may be, I am here to help navigate the process.

If you were a plant-forward eater, your pyramid might look like this:

Whole Foods Plant-Based

Used to refer to ingredients and foods themselves, i.e., fruits and vegetables (produce), whole grains, beans, other legumes (pulses), and soy foods; nuts and seeds, plant oils, and herbs and spices. Different from "plant-forward", which refers to the style of cooking and eating that emphasizes and celebrates these foods but is not limited to them.

If you were a Whole Food Plant-Based eater, your pyramid might look like this:

Vegetarian

Dishes that do not contain meat or fish, but may or may not, contain dairy, eggs and/or honey, and individuals who do not eat meat or fish but may or may not eat dairy, eggs and/or honey.
